Sydney Moss is quite famous for her prowess on the basketball court, but her claim to fame comes from entirely something else, her father. But nonetheless, she’s got the skills to pay the bills.

She was forced to retire as a player; and has been coaching ever since. Her career is full of highlights, but there’s pain in not having made it to the top. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the story of Sydney Moss, the daughter of Hall of Famer Randy Moss.

Birth and Early Life

Born Sydney Nikale Moss on the 6th of March, 1994, the daughter of the footballer comes from a family full of athletes. Her father, Randy Moss needs no introduction, he’s already a legend. Her uncle had a brief stint in the NFL too, with the Minnesota Vikings.

Also, she has a brother, Thaddeus Moss, who is a college football star, currently at Louisiana State University, trying to make it to the NFL, like his father. She shared a home with four siblings, Lexi, Senali, Thaddeus, and Montigo.

Basketball Career

Moss, earning five varsity letters finished her prep career at Boone County High School. After her senior season (2011-12), she won every significant player of the year honor for the state of Kentucky, as well as being named 2012 Kentucky “Miss Basketball.”

Moss played Division I at the University of Florida, where she majored in communications. She was named to the 2013 All-Southeastern Conference Freshman Team, having played all of the games. In her Sophomore year, she managed to win all three Division III National Player of the Year awards as she was named the WBCA Player of the Year. Moss led the nation, scoring 27.8 points per game as she tied the total points record and broke the NCAA Division III single-game record when she scored 63 points against Waynesburg University.

On her Junior year, she broke both the men’s and women’s records, scoring a total of 197 points in six Saints’ games. But despite all those title wins, a tragedy struck a year later, which revoked her senior year title win and ended her playing career.

Retirement and Coaching

She ended her career after the injury, because the surgery took a toll on her. She was afraid of her health, and righteously so, which made her retire before getting to make it to the national team or compete overseas. She stated in an interview that she feared having to get a double-knee surgery after reaching her 30s, so she had to retire. The institution, Thomas More retired her no. 20 jersey upon her graduation as a sign of respect.

But Moss chose coaching, instead of giving up. She started her other career from the same place where she ended one. It can be said that she has had a pretty impressive career in coaching, as she’s clearly enjoying it and has been at the same place for four years.

Net Worth

A college basketball coach makes bank, a college player doesn’t. It is a known fact, so, it can be concluded that Sydney Moss is making some bank, at least. Her short-lived but impressive career might have landed her a national team and a WNBA role, but she’s been quite happy with what she’s doing.
