From her previous marriage to Robert Long, she has a son, Philip Long. Robert Long is a former news director and a vice-president at KNBC-TV in Los Angeles, with their first marriage breaking down and divorced on 25 September 2009.
Kaity, however, once engaged in a dispute after the WPIX Director fired her due to her advancing age and high wage payment. She subsequently lodged an appeal against them and ultimately issued a verdict on her behalf.
Kaity’s Success Story
She began her career as a radio editor for KPIX-TV All-News Radio in San Francisco in the morning. She served as a street reporter for one year on the San Francisco radio station, the top all-news channel. Yet she wanted to complete her M.Sc. in Asian studies, but the news business was sidetracked.
She then joined KCRA-TV and worked as a co-anchor there. She began working on WABC-TV in 1981. She also worked for Fox, City Hall, Marci X, and Night Falls as a newscaster.
Then she joined WPIX in 1992 as a leading female anchor and has worked there since. She co-anchored the station in the same way at 10 p.m. Show together with Marvin Scott and Jack Cafferty from January 1992 to September 1992 and Jim Watkins from October 1998 to 2010.
Kaity received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Women’s Initiative for her recognition and accomplishments. She also became the first woman to receive an award from Rotary International and a New York Women’s Agenda Star Award. Besides, she was made a Distinguished Woman by the Chinese-American Planning Council. In 2018, she won the Emmy Award from the Governor.
