Together they have a daughter Laura Lasorda and a son late Tom Jr. Lasorda. Laura was born on August 23, 1952, and seven years later, Jo and Tommy welcomed second child Tom on May 6, 1958.

Tom Jr. also nicknamed Spunky passed away in 1991 at the age of 33. He is said to have died due to AIDS, but his father Tommy relates the death to cancer. In an interview about the loss of Tom Jr., Tommy said;

I cried. A lot of times. But I didn’t cry in the clubhouse. I kept my problems to myself. I never brought them with me. I didn’t want to show my family—that’s my family away from my house. What’s the sense of bringing my problems to my team?

I had him for thirty-three years. Thirty-three years is better than nothing. If I could have seen God and God said to me, ‘I’m going to give you a son for thirty-three years and take him away after thirty-three years,’ I’d have said ‘Give him to me.
