And in the case of Ginny Newhart, she was already known as the daughter of late American actor Bill Quinn. She got significant prominence after marrying Bob Newhart, an American Stand-up comedian and three times Grammy Awardee.
Virginia “Ginnie” Quinn was born to Bill and Mary Catherine Roden on December 9, 1940, in New York City. Later, she also paved her career into acting like his father. Besides acting, Ginny is also a mother of four kids.
Ginny’s Life as Celebrity Wife of Bob
Ginny first met her life partner Bob on a blind date in 1962. The date was organized by in Los Angeles by comedian Buddy Hackett. To Ginny, Hackett said;
I met this young guy and his name is Bob Newhart, and he’s a comic and he’s Catholic and you’re Catholic, and I think maybe you should marry each other.
During the blind date, Ginny and Bob had dinner together and played pool at Hackett’s house. Before meeting Bob, Ginny wanted to marry an actor who had a weekly income. But she found herself falling deeply in love with Bob. The couple tied the marital knot on January 12, 1963, and started living together in Bel Air.
Soon, Ginny and Bob were blessed with four kids; Robert William Newhart, Courtney Newhart, Timothy Newhart, and Jennifer Newhart. Also, they have ten grandchildren. While the Newhart couple were busy working away from home, Hackett often was a babysitter for the Newhart kids. But most of the time, Ginny looked after the children and did all the housekeeping.
Although an actor and a star of the stand-up comedy, Ginny describes Bob as shy, quiet, and subtle. Behind his funny humor, Ginny also had to go through his not-so-cool behavior, which she prefers not to share with the public. The pair’s marriage has lasted for 56 years. When Ginny is asked about the truth behind her stable marriage life, she said;
I don’t know whether it’s our generation – divorce was just not in our vocabulary. Like anybody we had fights, and we had some pretty good ones. But I was never happy being apart from him, and he was never happy being apart from me. When we both cooled down I’d say, ‘I’m miserable,’ and he’d say, ‘I’m miserable. OK, let’s end this.
Ginny and her hubby Bob prefer spending quiet time with each other and having fun together. Currently, she and her family reside in the neighborhood of Los Angeles. Read more about Maureen Grise‘s biography
