    Dorothy Stratten was a playmate, model, and actress in Canada. Dorothy Stratten has been named the August 1979 Playboy Playmate and the 1980 Playmate of the Year Playmate. In honor of the late model and actress Dorothy, “Death of Centerfold” and the cinematic version Star 80 and the book “The Killing of the Unicorn” are all made.

    Family and Education

    The full name of Dorothy Stratten is Dorothy Ruth Hoogstraten, born on 28 February 1960. Unfortunately, at the young age of 20, she passed. Dorothy was born in Grace Maternity Hospital, her hometown, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

    Dorothy’s parents are Simon’s father and Hoogstraten’s mother. They were Netherlands refugees. She also has two siblings. They were a 1961-born brother and a 1968-born child. Her brother is John Arthur, and Louise Stratten is her niece.

    In 1977, Dorothy Stratten attended Coquitlam, British Columbia, Centennial High School. She also worked part-time at a local Dairy Queen. There, she met Vancouver-area club owner, a 26-year-old, and the dating pimp Paul Snider

    Later Snider employed a photographer to take professional nude pictures of Dorothy. In the summer of 1978, he sent them to Playboy magazine. She was under 19, so she convinced her mom to sign the pattern release form.

    Career as a Model

    Dorothy was a Canadian playmate, model, and actress. She was the August 1979 Playboy Playmate of the Month and 1980 Playmate of the Year. She has appeared in three comedy movies and at least two episodes of shows on US network TV.

    Unfortunately, at the age of 20, her estranged husband and manager Paul Snider killed the young talent. Paul also died the same day by suicide. The death of Dorothy inspired two movie pictures.

     The 1981 TV film “Death of a Centerfold and the 1983 theater release “Star 80 “and the book “The Killing of the Unicorn “and the songs by Red Hot Chili Peppers California, by Bryan Adams “The Best Was Yet to Come” and by the Canadian rock band Prism’s “Cover Girl.”

    Two films are describing the killing of Stratten and one representing the television-made Death of a Centerfold: The Death of Dorothy Stratten (1981). Jamie Lee Curtis depicted Stratten, and Bruce Weitz played Paul Snider for this reason. Mariel Hemingway starred as Stratten in Bob Fosse’s feature movie Star 80 (1983) and Eric Roberts as Snider.

    Later, in December 1988, at 49 years of age, Stratten’s sister Louise married Bogdanovich, 20 years old. After Stratten’s death, Peter Bogdanovich paid for Louise’s private schooling and modeling lessons. Thirteen long years they were married, but divorced in 2001.

    The song “The Best Was Yet to Come” was written by singer-songwriter Bryan Adams and Jim Valance. They wrote it as the closing track of the 1983 LP “Cuts Like a Knife” for Adams. It was Dorothy Stratten’s dedication. Moreover, Bush also wrote in her memory the song “Dead Meat.”

Dorothy then dated Peter Bogdanovich. Sadly, after he decided to end his divorce, Paul murdered his young wife and died of suicide from Dorothy’s shotgun.
