Dimond was born as Diane Hughes on 15th November 1952 in Burbank, California, United States. She is the only daughter of late, Allen D. Huges (died in 2004) and Ruby Hughes, who are of French-Canadian and Irish extraction. She spent her early life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where his parents runned the Hughes Meat Co.
During the childhood days, Dimon attended Mark Twain Elementary School and then, Jefferson Middle School. She later graduated from Highland High School with excellent grades.
