She is an acclaimed fashion entrepreneur, wedding planner, and one of the best selling authors. Angel’s stardom even rose higher when she married a British former army colonel, TV presenter, and engineer Dick Strawbridge.
Born in East London to parents Stephen Newman and Jennifer Newman, young Angel spent most of her pocket money buying vintage items from second-hand shops and car boot sales. Her father ran a jewelry business called Paradise Jewellers in Benfleet. Additionally, she also owned a restaurant called Flutes. Angel’s brother also has a jewelry business on Canvey Island.
Angel is Married to Strawbridge Since 2015
Angel and Dick first met through their mutual agent in 2010. The couple refers to their first meeting as love at first sight. Their joy multiplied when they were blessed with two kids Arthur Strawbridge and Dorothy Strawbridge. In spite of the 20 years difference in their age, Angel and Dick walked down the aisle in November 2015.
In an interview with Essex Life Magazine, Angel said;
As he’s 20 years older than me, Dick jokes around saying I’ve got less time to hang around. I’m 40, so I was desperately at that right age to want to have children,’ reveals Angel. ‘If I’m honest I planned to have one, but Dick is the perfect father. We argue all the time, but he’s a good, good man – my perfect man.
Angel’s six years old son Arthur and five years old Dorothy speak fluent French as well as English. The kids attend the French schools, but Angel has managed to preserve their English roots as well.
Angel, along with Dick, quit their 9 to 5 job and moved to Pays de la Loire, France, where they bought and renovated a Chateau. The 19th-century castle is named Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson and incorporates 12 acres of parkland, 45 rooms, and 78 windows.
The renovations and decorations of the castle are featured and aired through Channel 4 as Escape to the Chateau. Angel and her husband are the primary hosts of the documentary show. Also read about Ginny Newhart‘s biography.

They separated in 2010 after spending 28 years as husband and wife. Presently, Brigit is married to her husband, Rob.
Escape to the Chateau
Escape to the Chateau features the restoration journey of the Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson. The show hovers around Angel, Dick, and their family doing the restoration work. In the first series, they install running water, electricity, and room heater in 45 rooms. The latter series follows the wedding events held in the Chateau.
About the series, Angel stated;
It has been a bit of a surprise that the series has been so well received and very humbling. We started looking seven years ago to live in France and when you start looking that’s the problem. We’re both workaholics and had gone to the Carcasonne area, the first holiday both of us had had in about ten years.
Escape to the Chateau has 29 episodes until now, and the show is growing popular among the viewers. Moreover, the restoration and rehabilitation for the Chateau are also funded through French shareholders.
